CHAMBER MUSIC COURSE

Festival of Chapels chamber music course, established in 2020, is for young people with a love of music who wish to expand their musical experiences, whilst absorbing the beauty of their surroundings.

Following the outstanding success of last year, we are expanding the course to 20 students, both string and woodwind players.

We are delighted to run this course in Binn and Blatten, Wallis, and look forward to you joining us in the breathtaking Swiss Alps.

COURSE PROGRAMME

Course outline, dates and cost

Last year our programme included works  by Samuel Barber, Philip Glass, Felix Mendelssohn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Dmitri Shostakovitch. Solo performances included music of Bach, Kurtag Isang Yun and Reger, in the intimate setting of the small mountain chapels for which Binntal is rightly famous.
A typical day saw students rehearse for around 5 hours, with time to explore the sensational mountain scenery in-between sessions.
Rehearsals were interwoven with Feldenkreis and Pilates classes. We will do the same in 2021, whilst well earned entertainment ranges from badminton and table tennis to table football, and lounge areas where the students can relax and unwind  One to one coaching will be available for those who wish it.
This year, 2021, we will house and rehearse in the village of Blatten, where Festival of Chapels has the exclusive use of a large secure house, where we have room for rehearsals as well as all our community activities. Besides our own performances, there  are concerts to be seen in the Ernen MusicDorf festival. Once again we will perform impromptu concerts in the chapels, and the final concert will be held, as last year, in the Pfarrkirche, Binn.
